Snail bound

I happened upon a neat article the other day about these amazing little snails.  They look distinctly other-worldly, as though they were imagined by Pixar for a new movie.

According to the Washington Post article, these amazingly colorful guys were found on limestone hillsides in Malaysia.  Some had been known for a while, but new species were recently discovered.   Sadly, the hillsides are disappearing because they are being mined for the limestone to make cement, and a few species have already become extinct.  While they may not have much function in the overall scheme of things, they are incredibly unique.  It’d be a shame if we lost them for….cement..  A small creature, in a small niche.  With lots of beauty.
